Need to trim the tall grasses for new sprouts to come in.

Our 6 acre piece of land we bought last summer won't be farmed this year so DH has grand plans. It had corn harvested in the fall and now needs lots of prep work to be useable for us this year and moving forward. We need to chat with a local farmer and see if we can hire him to disc the entire lot and plant something over the entire area so we don't have 6 acres of mud. Hoping we can strike a deal with the neighbor there to mow it occasionally for us. Then we'd like to take a section and plant a variety of pumpkins with the hope that in the fall we could bring the camper out there, have a bonfire and do a pumpkin carving party. Would be fun but will require some planning since there is no water, electic or septic out there. It's a dream and I'll let DH figure out how to get there.

If not have you thought of what kind to plant? I would love to put in some spring flowering trees.

Just cleaned up all the presents Snickers left in the backyard over this long winter. Yuck. That was fun. Last spring we had to replace a tree in out front yard. When we removed the old tree I pulled out all of the old tulip bulbs, I just realized I never replanted them.

Rock removal is underway. I'm thinking this will be a several week---possibly several month process....

Hi Kara. Where are you having to remove the rock from? Major plans underway? Ripping out all the landscaping we have and removing the rock and composting the area and then mulching it. The rock is getting sparse and dated and it is hard to plant anything new with it there. I would also love to reshape the beds, but that is above what I think we can do on our own. We will probably pay for someone to do that, but it will be down the line. At this point, I have been sifting the rocks, since there are lots of sticks and leaves in the rock. It wouldn't be bad, but they put down lots of tiny rocks under the larger rocks (to save money?) and the work is very tedious. I'm thinking that I might just go to shoveling and not worrying about getting out the tiny sticks and leaves. I was just doing it to be nice because I am leaving it on our driveway for anyone to take. I wouldn't want rocks with sticks and leaves in it....

I wouldn't be that nice. Moving rock is like the movie Holes. Such a drag! It's going to look great when it's done though!

I have some dead bushes in the front and I have to figure out what to do there. They are expen$ive! All my landscaping has gone downhill, but our medical and college expenses have sucked up the plant/flowers/bushes money!

Lots of hard work but will be so worth it!!! I used a garden hose to shape one of my beds easy peasy.
