I wanted one last year, but couldn't bring myself to spend $30 on it. This year I used my TRU Groupon and now we have Fred. He is quite mischievous! He is a bit of a mess maker, but all in all he is a good elf & DS7 is getting a huge kick out of him. What are some things your elf is doing? So far Fred has left some treats, lined up all of our Hot Wheels cars, made a snow angel on the counter and left donuts for breakfast. Tonight he is being particularly generous & leaving new gym shoes.

That thing creeps me out like clowns creep other people out.
But I'm sure yours is delightful.

I think the elf is adorable, but just cant make myself do it, just see it as more work for me and sometimes the elf has to make a mess that i have to clean up lol.
I'm sure you've looked but pinterest has tons of ideas
i'm doing the one book a night till christmas. I had/purchased 24 books, wrapped them all and we read one book each night as a count down to christmas. First year i'm doing it, kids love it:-)

He's totally delightful! AND even better, by the time my DS outgrows him, Kermie will be the perfect age & I can send Fred to you!!!

That's a good idea, too, Jackie! I'm sure your kids do love it. When I did the snow angel in flour on the counter I thought, "Well this wasn't very well thought out!" There will be no more big messes like that.

I do! And I'm already in bed and I forgot to move him. I don't really do much other than move him around. I have the best intentions to be creative but I can barely get the regular holiday stuff accomplished! DS5 thinks it's great! DD3 doesn't seem to care yet.

We have Cherry the elf. I do not encourage the troublemaker elves, b/c what's the point of an elf if he himself is causing trouble? And, as much as some of the Pinterest ideas seem like fun, I can barely remember to move the darn thing.
He does kind of creep me out too. Shifty eyes and all.
Has anyone seen Joy's? That is a creepy elf!

The boys could care less. My Mom is using it at her house. Because you know Cullen is there 3 hours a week and he is such a handful. Really? I hadn't noticed Lucky.....DH is creeped out by him. He hates him. Almost as much as Elmo.

lol I don't do it, but have seen others who have and yes I agree a little creepy, yet cute at the same time.
at work a child left their stuffed animal, curious george, like 3 months ago, and somehow we still have it. well we call him jr now, and he is our version of elf on the shelf. everyday the managers come into work knowing that jr will be hiding somewhere and it is up to them to find him and then move him to his next home. lol
I blame it mostly on the teenage/young adult managers for starting it, but it does keep everyone laughing and enjoying the work day when they see where jr was placed at.

I have two disco chipmunks on a shelf. I move them every day and they get into different antics.

for those doing the elf--when I was at Deals yesterday they had a huge shaped floor size puzzle of the Elf ( sitting on a shelf!) for $5 !! When my kids were small they loved those huge floor puzzles

That is a creepy elf!Mine is decades old. He was my parents....he was always on our tree or hanging around the house somewhere (my mom was Elf on the shelfing before it was a thing!). We had two...my twin sister has the other one as we are the only 2 left from our "nuclear" family of 5 still living. (My other siblings are 1/2 siblings and were all grown and out of the house when I was a kid). One of my nieces (of a sister I don't particularly have a damn thing in common) started a little FB war about it yesterday. She called it the dumbest thing ever. She pissed me off. First Christmas without my mom and my sister is hard enough but she deliberately insulted one of our traditions and she should have known better. Then my biotch sister defended her. Whatevs. My kids are doing elf for me this year which makes me happy...they rotate days and try to outdo each other. I appreciate that they are putting in the effort for me since they know it makes me giggle.
