I will try to put most of the big questions into this post so it can be linked weekly when I post the new Savingstar items.
www.savingstar.com is an online program that you can link your Jewel preferred/fuel rewards card to, to earn extra money in e-coupons and "e-catalinas". You can also link your CVS card. You can also link your Hyvee Fuel Rewards Card there.
6/12/13 note: The Jewel Fueld Rewards card is going away on 6/25, so if you have Jewel offers in process, you want to finish them up before then. Albertsons (who I *think* now owns Jewel, it depends on how the corporate structure actually pans out) has something called a "Upromise Keytag" available in their stores, at the service desk, for shoppers to be able to link to their Savingstar account. We will have to wait to see if Jewel will be getting Upromise Keytags to distribute to shoppers. Nobody knows as of this date.
Sign up at www.savingstar.com. You can add up to 3 cards, per store, per account, OR you can have a Savingstar account for each card you have (each must be tied to a different email address). There is no household limit on Savingstar accounts. If you have more than one account (for each person in your household, for example), then you can do the deals/use the coupons more than once.
Once you have signed up, you can load deals or e-coupons to your card. E-coupons are exactly how they sound: Buy THIS item, get 55c into your savingstar account balance... So, instead of instant savings at the register, you will be building up those coupon values in your savingstar account.
Even better, there are progressive deals available. These are usually "one trip or many," meaning you can buy the participating products or $ value needed in one trip, or multiple trips during the promotion time. When you have fulfilled the requirement (i.e. "Buy $20 in Lean Cuisine, get $5 posted to your Savingstar account."), your account will be posted with the $ you earned on the promotion.
Here are my tips. Purchases should post to your Savingstar account in no longer than 3 days or if on the weekend, by Monday. So, you see you will have to keep your receipts for a couple of days to make sure your purchases post. If you don't keep your receipts until they post, you are throwing money away. Anyway, if the items don't post, email customer service here: savingstar.com/contact/new. Give them the date of your transaction and what items did not post (the UPC numbers off the receipt). They can bring up your receipt and look at your purchases to post them.
The only exception to this is if you have bought progressive items but not the full amount needed, and those progressive items have not posted (i.e. you have bought $12 of the Lean Cuisine of the $20 needed, but only $6 of your purchases posted), wait until you have purchased enough items to totally fulfill the threshold, then email (you can reference different receipts in one email). Savingstar CS cannot post progressive purchases, but if they can see you have fulfilled the promo, they will post the reward for you.
When you have accumulated $5 or more in your SS account, you can "pick your payout." Choices are payout to Paypal, Amazon gift card, download to your bank, or charitable donation. I always payout to Paypal and usually get the money sent the same day.
New deals & coupons for Savingstar are posted on Thursdays and the 1st of each month.
Couple items to remember:
1) There is no restriction on "per household" accounts. So you can have an account, your DH, your kid, etc. Just keep track of your shopping cards.
2) There is no restriction against using MQ along with savingstar Qs or deals. From what I have seen, the progressive deals subtract store/instant savings but not MQ from your purchases. So feel free to use MQ along with any Savingstar Q or deals.
I hope that helps, and if anyone has questions please ask them here.
Have a great day!
