Got any good recipes?
I made this today and it's not bad:
1 cup baby spinach 1/2 banana 1 container yopa vanilla( no nuts) 2 fresh sliced pineapple rings 1/3 cup crushed ice
I've been tossing in my fiber powder too and it works well for me to keep that in my supplement routine.

I have a new interest in this. We got a Vitamix. I haven't even had time to take it out of the box yet, but I am looking forward to using it. I guess it came with a recipe book.

You're going to love your Vitamix!! I don't use recipes, I always use spinach, carrots, whatever melon I have on hand, and then frozen peaches and blueberries and maybe some pineapple, yummy!

As long as I have apples to sweeten it up... I pretty much throw anything in my smoothie. I always have a green leafy, an apple, whatever else I have on hand.

That sounds like how I juice - always an apple, usually spinach or other green leafy veg, and whatever else I have. The big thing, I guess, will be figuring out how to use the thing. It is a 6300. I've known I wanted one and then we went to Costco for the first time and they had a demo. I love the way the bottom doesn't screw off so there is no seal to lose plus it looked so easy to clean. I started a 3 day juice fast today though if I have time to take the Vitamix out of the box and look at it I may be tempted beyond what I can bear to add some smoothies in as they are deeeelicious. We also got a big bag of Chia seeds!

What kind of smoothies have people made with kale? Haven't yet done any smoothies with green leafy veggies, but think that would be a great idea.

You need to start with only a little kale and build up to a decent amount, it's very strong. We tried it but ended up using spinach again, it's much easier to hide the taste.

I like Kale... but I have hypothyroidism. Not so great for me. SO I have switched to spinach and romaine. I have a list of the most nutritionally dense foods and Kale is at the top of the list! But... it is in a coniferous food group that inhibits the function of the thyroid. So I still have it on occasion, but nor regularly. It is soooo good for you otherwise.

That's exactly how I get out of putting kale in my juice too (hypothyroidism). As good as those raw cruciferous veggies are, some of us have to avoid them. I do buy kale for dh to put in his though. We also use beet greens and occasionally swiss chard although spinach is our number one choice.

I used to make just fruit smoothies but now I make them with fruit for my family and then when there's just a little left in the blender (after I pour others' drinks) I add a big bunch of spinach or kale, and blend again to be mine. If I don't have spinach or kale I dont make smoothies anymore, seems like a waste - I want to get my veggies in
