I sent you a pm, guessing with as many views as there are to your post, that I am not the first. Even so, thanks for the chance!

If you wanted a tag it seems you can register for a rewards account online if you use a zip code within the test area when signing up online. You will be e-mailed a temporary card. After you get the temp card it can be loaded onto a smartphone keyring app so you won't need an actual key card- but you can always use the temp card.
1)go to kohlsrewards.com and sign up with a st louis or indianapolis area zip code ie 63006 worked for me. 2)you will then be automatically directed to set up a new regular kohl's account- use a new e-mail and mailing information with a testing area zip code ( real e-mail that you can forward to your monitored e-mail to get the rewards). A real phone number might be handy as I believe you may be able to reference your account with the phone number. 3)You'll get an e-mail very quickly for your newly set up account but it will take several hours before you get an e-mail with a kohls rewards account number and temporary card. 4) It may not look like anything is happening and there are no hints that you'll be added to the rewards program until you get the e-mail
I have hard keycards but they are not activated- they'd probably need to be activated in-store but perhaps they could be activated later by calling customer support? I would think you could get an actual card to transfer your points to if you continue with the program.

I happened to be checking the email account I used to sign up for the Kohl's Rewards tonight and saw that I got a $5 reward coupon for completing my profile. It looks completely different than the $5 email Q's we get. I feel practically flush in Kohl's Qs with all the different ones they are offering right now.
