This is because Amazon will have a distribution center in Illinois.
There is one opening up in Wisconsin soon too.

Right. But they are starting to charge tax now before it is even built because of the new law.

I think having Amazon charge and collect the tax upfront will make it easier for Illinois customers. This way the customers no longer have to keep track of the sales tax owed for when they file their income taxes as currently required.  |
