www.fuelrewards.com/fuelrewards/frn-mastercard.htmlShell has a deal if you sign up for their credit card you can earn $ off at the pump. Jewel is included. I hardly shop at Jewel, but I will get visa/mastercard gift cards from them then go and get money orders with the gift cards so I don't have all that money tied up in the gift cards.

I've often thought about getting this one but I am sticking to the Southwest rewards card. Marriott if also offering me like 80,000 points if I open a card. I might bite on that one.
All that MS makes my head spin that's for sure. Someone really needs to dummy it down for me. LOL
So then what would you do with the money orders? Pay bills? I see the lines at WM when I am in there working and they are really crazy. Not sure I want to wait in them. I know there is a whole crazy MS world out there. LOL

Shell has a rewards card that is NOT a CC that you can use to get $.03 off at the pump every time.
So does BP.
So does Road Ranger.
So does Flying J.
In my spare time I've been working on getting one card from each program to keep in each car and each wallet. Anyone know of other gas discount cards that don't require a CC? I use my Discover or USAA CCs to buy gas and get 5% back -- it's better than any gas station rewards CCs.

The deal with the one Swale posted is more convoluted but can theoretically lead to very very cheap gas.
You get $.25 off per gallon, per $100 you spend at certain grocers including Jewel .
So, you buy multiple $500 GCs at Jewel with the credit card. For each one you buy, you get $1.25 off per gallon up to 20 gal.
So, if you bought 3/$4.95 fee per card (I think?) for the trouble of having to deal with $1500 in Visa GC + $15 in fees, you'd get $3.75 off of gas up to 20 gallons, so $75 off if your gas was $3.75/gal and you bought 20.
Certain Visa gift cards can have a PIN and be used as a debit card to buy money orders at Walmart or other stores (help me swale, where else?) - so.... if the money orders are cheap, you could still get away with spending under $20 for $75+ of gas. If you're willing to work for it!

How would this work if I buy 5 - 8 gallons of gas at a time?

Not very well, unfortunately. It is really only good for high volume. You'd use up the reward, whether you buy 1 gallon or 20. Therefore, the benefit is lower if you buy less gas.
Perhaps take both cars, try to park in a way to move from one to the other? I dont know how well that works.
We have an SUV now and it can use almost 20 if its very empty. So..... I might do this, to fill it up one of the 2 times a month we generally fill. Worth it to save about $40-50, depending on how much gas costs, etc.
Not sure if I'd be approved for the card.... might have too many apps over last 18 months.

Thanks Reporter. Great idea in theory! But I don't see it working for us since we have smaller vehicles and try to top off up when we're at a half tank. DH and I think it's not good to let your gas tank get empty on a consistent basis. There's sediment in the gas tank that gets stirred up and gets in the engine when you let the tank get to E which theoretically lessens the life span of the engine. According to Cartalk, anyway.

I throw a few shell gas cards in at Jewel along with my groceries.

Also......many fuel pumps are now located in the gas tank to keep them cooler. Running with a quarter tank or less all the time creates more stress on the fuel pump, causing it to wear out faster.

You don't need a new card, you can link any Master Card to your FRN card.

I tried doing Speedway a couple years ago, but we don't have one nearby and the points kept expiring and the account kept getting closed, so it was pretty worthless to me. It seems like a great deal though, especially if you buy a Speedway GC from Speedway and use that to buy your gas. Double the points.

This might be the right place to say I always try to pull through a parking spot into the next spot so I don't have to put my car in reverse when I leave. Over time it's less wear & tear on the transmission and in my car, the clutch. I may overthink things.

I must be overthinking too because it makes a lot of sense to me!! I kinda felt it was a duh moment and something I must begin.

Anyone who is in the Burbank area - the Speedway on 79th & Harlem just reopened & has $0.10 off/gallon-IDK for how long tho. For example, last time I filled up, the sign said $3.59 and at the pump it was $3.49.
This might be only w/a Speedy card.
