Jewel-Osco customers’ credit card data may have been compromised

Updated: August 15, 2014 7:49AM
The parent company of Jewel-Osco announced Friday that some of its customers’ credit card data may be compromised after computer hacking — the company called it an “unlawful intrusion” — involving some of its stores, including those in Illinois and Indiana.
Customers who used a credit or debit card at Jewel-Osco between June 22 and July 17 may have their data compromised, according to a statement posted on the company’s website. However, the company, AB Acquisition, said they have since contained the intrusion and have yet to determine if any cardholder data was in fact stolen.
“We know our customers are concerned about the security of their payment card data, and we work hard to protect it,” Mark Bates, senior vice president and chief information officer, said in a statement posted on the site.
“It’s important to note that there is no evidence at this point that consumer data has been misused.”
The company has hired a third-party forensics team to investigate and said it would release more information within the next day

I'm throwing this in a couple of places as a heads up.
One of the recent breaches may have allowed them to get sensitive data. I shop at Jewel, but don't know if this is where the thieves got my information. At any rate my bank (Capital One 360) just informed me they have deactivated my card and are sending me a new one.
I don't see anything that is out of the ordinary, but I'm without a card until the new one arrives.

Shop n Save is affected by this breach also. I received a letter from my bank stating limits and that they are issuing a new card.

I actually used my CC at SNS during this time. Chase is replacing all of their cards with the new chip technology and I got mine in the mail today, so no reason to call and cancel the one I used there.
