Bunnee just texted me that our Target is closing on 5/3/14 She was in there this morning and they were having a big employee meeting with some suits and when she checked out her cashier told her that is what it was about. That all team members who wish to will be relocated to other stores. WHAT THE FISH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They are in a plaza with a now shuttered Best Buy on the way to Jewel. I love my Target I go there ALL THE TIME! Now my choices will be to go up or down Randall Road to Elgin or Algonquin (nope, I hate Randall Road!) or stop at one of the 3 on my way home, all of which are in Crook County and pay higher tax (although they are bigger/better stores with grocery and our isn't). But STILL!!!!!!!! I'm so sad We don't have squat now. We have crappy Carpentersville Wal-Mart (I go there more than I care to admit because I hate going all the way up Randall to Algonquin).

All we ever get are Halloween pop up stores. First it was when TRU closed, now there's one in the old JCP store at Spring Hill, and one where the Best Buy was. In October Dundee might as well be called Halloween Town.

I used to go to that Target when I lived in the area. It was never busy...

I know. That area is starting to become kind of a black hole of economic development.
Did I recently hear that Red Lobster is folding, too? Maybe I hallucinated that when I was high on wrapping paper fumes.
We've had a bunch of stores fold around here too. The old Cub Foods is still vacant. It's in a plaza with a shuttered Wal-Mart that moved to the edge of town to become Super. Joann and Michaels have both closed since I moved here. I heard the Sears in town is looking for buyers. Doms is gone now too.
Well we both still have kohls.

It's like a rotating string of strip malls. You never know what will still be open. I got an email that Archivers is closing if anyone is into scrapbooking.

I don't get out much!! The only place I went regularly was Corner Bakery. I went to Panda Express for the first time a few weeks ago and it was completely dead. Not sure of that will last. All I want is a Lou Malnatis Uhm. I'm hungry all I can think about is food!

Georgio's in downtown CL is very good deep dish, too.
Now I sound like an old-timer. In my day, the intersection of Randall and Algonquin was a 4-way stop sign. That's the way it was and we liked it!

I heard on the news this morning that Target was closing a store but didn't hear which one. I find it strange too that they would close. I've never heard of them closing one before you would think more Kmarts were on the way out instead.
Yes, I heard about Red Lobster too. Ours seems to be packed all the time. We have been there once and I told my DH that the food there was just taken out of the freezer and thrown into the fryer. He wouldn't listen to me and I knew this because when I was in HS a lot of the guys used to work there as cooks. So to make a long story short, we paid $80 for sub-standard food.

In my day Jacobs High School was still in the middle of the corn field! Man I'm old.
