I painted my front door (it used to be black). Then I saw this $80 wreath on Etsy and for one crazypants instant I actually thought about buying it because it would look really nice. But then I pulled my head out of my ass and decided I could make it myself. I spent $23.70 on the supplies, and then I didn't have to spend $85 + $20 shipping on the Etsy wreath. I was rather proud of myself for getting something done and actually finishing a project.

Thanks! Now I just have to unpack (the dining room is full of boxes) and you can come over for a beverage. Smallsaver I think you're near me? I made the giant mistake of going to Countryside Nursery on 176. I fell in love with those baskets but not the price. I looked elsewhere in town for something more reasonably priced, but everything looked sad, tiny and not worth bothering after seeing those. Don't ever go there unless you have a bunch of money and nothing better to do with it.

I cringe every time my DH goes to Home Depot, so pricey nurseries are definitely out!

I keep thinking about your wreath. I've been planning to paint my exterior doors yellow since Mother's Day weekend and was going to do a square boxwood wreath with a monogram initial.......but I'm really liking those feathers! PS- yours is better than your inspiration wreath.

Thanks for all the kind words. I was happy to get something done. I hemmed and hawed about the color for a week, taped swatches to the door, looked at it in every light, then finally painted the door "Turquoise Tint" by Valspar. It looked horrendous. Way too bright. It almost glowed in the dark. Even my color-impervious DH made some negative remark about it (and he was right). Now it's Elegant Silk by Valspar. I just walked into Lowe's, walked over to the paint chips, grabbed this color on the fly and had them mix it right then. Then after the door was painted, I walked into Michael's for something completely different. I saw a lame peacock feather wreath there, went home and started googling. Sometimes things end up right when they're unplanned. If you want peacock feathers, get them on eBay. I bought 50 for $13.99.

Wow! I love the wreath! I am feeling moderately motivated to recreate yours. Can I ask where you got the "M"?
