I have a post in OT about Cartwheel that answers a lot of questions. You will know if your Cartwheel will apply to any item before you get to checkout if you use the bar code scanner in the app.
I hated Dominick's with a passion. So I understand if you don't like CW. More deals Just 4 Me
Oh, no, I "get" Cartwheel, and use it all the time. I don't have to like it to use it, lol. My point is that, between that and 5 different sets of mobile coupons and printable coupons and gift cards and -- like, my mom lives in WA and they are finally building a Target near her. She calls up yesterday and asks me to tell her how to get deals there because she has been reading about what I buy. Just the thought of trying to explain this whole process is exhausting, lol -- she will NEVER do it. Never. Ever. Ever. So that's why I am thinking of them as my new Dominick's. Just like with Just for U: I love the deals I'm getting by playing their games, and there's an aspect of fun to it. But it's sure not the way I'd set it up, and I think it's unfortunate that it disadvantages people who aren't as comfortable with computers and stacking multiple discounts and using smartphones.

I see your point. So maybe this is a glass half full kind of thing? It'll keep the masses away from the great deals and hopefully we'll have longer to play before Target starts making it less of a good deal.

I'm actually wondering if it's an attempt to draw people back into the store after the credit card breach -- their sales dropped a LOT after that came out, and I think they're trying different things to lure people back in and get them back in the habit of shopping Target again.
[ETA -- not Cartwheel per se, but all the deals, the in-ad coupons like the $15/$40, etc.]

Small boxes of Nature Valley granola bars are $2.69 this week. The BIG 24 ct boxes are also ringing $2.69 -- they were not tagged on the shelf but scan that way: www.mashupmom.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/naturevalleyattarget.jpgIf you have the $1.25/1 printable from earlier this month stack with $1.00/2 TQ in the 3/2 SS. If not, stack with $.50/1 in the 1/26 SS. Also -- freaking MiO. I grabbed three off the shelf, one rang up $2.79 and didn't trigger the gift card. Got home -- and found that one is 16 cups instead of 24!! I didn't even know they made two sizes. So watch for that.

Nope. Free or cheap old spice deodorant Wyb 2 deodorant and 2 old spice body sprays and use 2 bogo coupons from last week's p&G. Get $5 gift card back. If cashier gives you full coupon value you can get almost $4 overage. If cashier enters actual price, deodorants will be $.19 each. Body spray is free. ALL the qualifying deodorants were priced $3.99 at my store I asked a guy if they had any of the only one that was marked $2.69, but then realized that it didn't qualify for the gift card anyway..... then i showed him my printout of the deal, with a picture of the Fiji "flavor" deodorant, with the price tag 2.69 in front of it, and he told me to tell the cashier to give it to me for $2.69 This Target has NEVER gone out of their way to help me get a better deal... NEVER... in fact it's always been the opposite ! I think Darion is my new best friend

I bought fiji and Denali scents @2.69 each (had others in my cart for that price but dh intercepted and we went back and he wanted those, haha...) but there were several others at 2.69. Some were deodorant only; others were deodorant + antiperspirant. i always scan everything though to make sure it's priced as marked). Btw they both qualified for the gc with no issues at my store. Sorry you had trouble :-( Seriously, though, market pantry milk at my store is 2.89. In Algonquin it's 2.49. I've seen discrepancies in many other prices too. Sale price on market pantry pasta is consistently higher in Algonquin than in Crystal lake.

I didn't think the wipes were such a great deal, so I've been buying 1 bulk pack (sale price $24.69) + 1 big pack ($16.14 regular price) per transaction. After Cartwheel it works out to ~$.12 each for size five diapers. I'm happy with that price.
But now, do I have enough size fives? Do I ned size 6? If I get my hands on more $15 Up & Up coupons I might concentrate on training pants. $16.99 x 2 = $33.98, then I'll fill in with other Up & Up things we need and have TIPQs for (like a $4 toilet brush for the third bath, which I've been wanting for well over a year, but momma was waiting for a deal).
